In September we received regulatory approval to expand the list of supported smartphones for IBDoc®. Like for the previous approvals, we used our established thorough validation control to add 12 additional models. Since each smartphone model differs in camera and processor type, which relates to differences in measurement we always need to make sure that the supported smartphones are measuring correctly. We have previously published data on how the differences between smartphone models can be corrected to obtain a good accuracy and precision of a smartphone based lateral-flow test. Based on these findings we then established the above validation protocol that allows us to test new smartphone devices and correct them to our laboratory-based method.
With this method, we have expanded our list of supported smartphone to 36 devices. The update includes the iPhone 7 series and the iPhone SE for Apple Devices and Samsung Galaxy S7 and S8 series. We also include a few older Samsung Galaxy devices such as the Note 3 and the S4 mini. We also include the newest HUAWEI Flagship phone P10.
